Gearing Up For Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW)

The last week in January and the first week in February holds many events with the primary focus of raising awareness around eating disorders. Take a look and see what's going on in Guelph, ON over the next two weeks. 

Wednesday Jan. 28th 2015- Wellness Education Centre's Eating Disorder Fair (MacNaughton Building at the University of Guelph)

Come by and check out the interactive booths hosted by various organizations (both on and off campus) who deal with eating disorders and body image issues. The event runs from 11am to 3pm and is free of charge. Make sure to say hi as I will be there, along with Emily McGratten (woot woot!!!), the illustrator of wiTHIN. We will have panels of our graphic novel on display with an opportunity for you to create your own comic about your journey with body image and/or wellness. You can submit your comic strip at within@withincomic.com for a chance to be on wiTHIN's website (wwww.withincomic.com). 

Wednesday February 4th, 2015 - Faces Of Recovery (put on by the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Eating Disorders Coalition)

Come and listen to stories of recovery by a panel of individuals who have personally struggled, or have supported someone who has struggled, with an eating disorder. This is an event that has been going on for over a decade, growing every year. It is free of charge (donations welcome) and runs from 7-9pm at the Holiday Inn Guelph (601 Scottsdale Dr). Local organizations who work with individuals/families dealing with an eating disorders will have booths on display as well. 

Thursday February 5th, 2015 -  Journey to Recovery (put on by Woodstock and Area Community Health Centre)

Come and listen to both professional in the field of eating disorders, and individuals in recovery, talk about this issue. The event takes place at Woodstock Collegiate Institute from 7-8:30pm. It is free of charge. Hope to see you there!
